Autumn Term 2017

Welcome to the start of an exciting new year here in Red base!

Over the first few weeks we will be welcoming some new children into our Red base family.

The week of the 25th September will be the launch week for our author study on Jill Murphy, and we will be kick starting our week by having a teddy bears picnic (More information nearer the time). Whilst looking at the books written by Jill Murphy our weekly themes will include myself, my house and my family.

School will close for half term on the 27th October for one week and will re-open on the 6th November.

In the second half of this term our author will be Mick Inkpen. We will be launching with a ‘colour day’ when we will be asking the children (and staff) to come to school wearing their favourite colour! Our weekly themes will include colours, friends, toys, bonfire night, Diwali and of course there will be lots of tinsel and glitter as we reach the end of the term!!

Red Base reminders:

  • Please sign your child in and out every day and inform staff if someone different will be collecting your child.
  • Please remember to pay the £1 foundation fund each week.
  • Our morning session is 8:45- 11:45 (children to arrive through the playground door and be collected through the office entrance – doors will be open from 11:40)
  • Our afternoon session is 12:15-3:15 (children to arrive through the office entrance and be collected through the playground door – doors will open from 3:10)

*Please try to be on time when dropping off and collecting your children as it helps our session times to run smoothly.

We will be having open days with all parents during the second half of the Autumn Term to discuss how your child is settling in and the progress they are making however, if in the mean time you have questions or concerns please feel free to come into Red base and speak to a member of staff.

Foundation 2 (Blue & Green Base)

Autumn Term 2017

Welcome to Foundation 2!

An exciting start to your child’s first year in ‘big school’ begins.

In the first instance your child will be settling in, learning lots of different things including new routines, activities and names of new people (and that includes the staff learning the children’s names too!)

You are welcome  into the classroom each morning to help settle your child. We would also like to invite you to stay once a week to support your child with their writing (to be arranged).

Our topics are finding out about Ourselves this half term and Celebrations next half term. If your child has any books at home that they would like to fetch in to school on either topic we would love to see them.

Book bags will be sent home on a regular basis each week (they will include a reading book, phonics booklet, numbers and tricky words to read) – we ask you to return them the next day. Homework will come home every Friday – please support your child by encouraging them to complete this as independently as possible, helping them when they need it. Please bring it in every Monday so it can go on our homework wall.

If you hear your child read their reading book, please remember to write this in their reading booklet.

Your child will have a weekly PE session (Green Base on a Tuesday & Blue Base on a Wednesday).

A labelled pair of sand shoes to be kept in school will be required in the  first instance.  No jewelry is to be worn and earrings are to be removed or covered over with a plaster before the session begins.

Please provide your child with a water bottle to be kept in school (fresh water is added daily)

Library will be on a Friday afternoon – the doors will open at 3 o’clock when you are invited in to help your child choose a library book to take home – remember to return it the following week (before Friday!).

Please remember to pay £1.00 every week – this goes towards many different things including buying new resources and baking ingredients.

We look forward to an exciting year ahead with your children.

Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to come into either Blue or Green Base to discuss your child’s progress or any other concerns you may have!

School will close for half term on the 27th October for one week and will re-open on the 6th November.
